- 1 cup skimmed milk
- ½ tsp coconut extract (can be replaced with coconut milk / cream or
desiccated coconut)
- 12 - 16 almonds
- honey to taste
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 3-5 ice cubes (optional)

This is a great shake if you are on a high protein diet and want to lose weight
or gain lean muscle. If this describes your goals then you should stick
to using either the coconut extract or the desiccated coconut for the flavoring.
Coconut milk or cream are more fattening and so using these is only a good idea
if you are on a mass gaining diet.
Real almonds are used in this shake. Not only are nuts a great vegetarian source
of protein but people who eat them on a regular basis have shown that they reduce
the risk of heart problems. Nuts are also a source of antioxidants. When you blend
the almonds into the shake you should ensure the nuts have been blended thoroughly.
Some people may not like the 'grainy' texture of the shake. Try looking in your
supermarket for almond powder as an alternative. You might also try finding almonds
without their skins.
