STRAWBERRY & ALMOND

Ingredients for this Fruit & Nut Flavored Recipe:

1 cup skimmed milk
1 tsp almond extract
6 strawberries (fresh preferably, but frozen otherwise)
1 scoop strawberry protein powder

More Information about this Homemade Shake:

Okay, so this recipe doesn't use 'real' almonds, but rather almond extract (or almond essence) instead. however, don't let the recipe stop you from trying real almonds. You can buy whole almonds and throw them in to the blender. I find that if the almonds still have their skin it adds more grittiness to the shake and would recommend buying almonds without the skin or sliced almonds, or better yet for 'mixability', powdered ground almond.

The advantage of using real almonds is that you are adding another protein source to your shakes. In fact, almonds are probably the best type of nuts for bodybuilders to eat because, when compared to other nuts, they are lower in fat and higher in protein.

Don't forget to use fresh strawberries if you can - they will give you more energy, vitamins, nutrients and are better tasting.
