Soy Fruit and Whey Shake

Ingredients for the Homemade Recipe:

1 cup soy milk (you can experiment with different flavors)
½ cup apple juice
1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc)
1 scoop vanilla or strawberry protein powder

More Information about this Soy Drink:

This recipe is based on the use of soy milk instead of dairy milk. Now this is not likely to be to everyone's taste as soy milk is definitely an acquired flavor. This recipe has been provided for lactose intolerant bodybuilders and also vegetarian / vegan bodybuilders who obviously don't drink milk (you may need to use a non-whey protein powder depending on your diet needs). Here in Asia, people drink a lot of soy milk and it is available in various flavors and is even mixed with dairy milk to form some kind of hybrid.

Soy milk is quite a good source of protein because it is made from soy beans and we all know beans/pulses contain protein. These foods are an important food group in a vegetarian and vegan diet also making soy milk a great option for the lactose intolerant diet as well. If you aren't so keen on the flavor of soy milk you can use various ingredients to hide the taste more. Already, the apple juice and mixed berries should help take most of the soy milk flavor away. You can also add honey or another sweetener.
