Ingredients for this Slightly Different Protein Smoothie

1 cup of diet fizzy orange (orange soda)
1 cup fat-free plain yogurt
1 tsp vanilla essence
1 cup ice
1 scoop vanilla protein powder

About this Particular Bodybuilding Recipe

I'm guessing you probably have never thought about pouring a can of soda into your blender while making your protein shakes. Well, neither had I until I came across this recipe.

Remember, you should probably stick to the 'diet' or 'light' variety of your favorite soda to keep the sugar levels down. With this particular shake, I recommend drinking it immediately for a couple of reasons...

  1. If you leave it, you will lose the 'fizzy' or 'sparkling' effect of the soda (flat soda does not taste good)
  2. You may find that the yogurt curdles if you let it stand for a while

You can try using different sodas. How about Diet Dr. Pepper or diet root beer? If you are in the UK, I recommend try Lucozade (it's even available in an orange flavor) - you get the bubbles and the increased energy.
