(How to Make a Homemade Bodybuilding Shake with over 100g of Protein)

Welcome to ProteinBodybuilding.com. Today I'd like to show you how to make your own homemade bodybuilding shake. From it you'll be able to get over 100 grams of protein. All you'll need is a blender, your favorite protein supplements, and some ingredients from your local supermarket that I'm going to show you now.

Okay. Here are the ingredients I'm going to use for this bodybuilding shake. Of course we've got protein supplements (protein powders) and here I've got 2 scoops - one's chocolate and one is vanilla because I like that combination; works quite well for me and depending on the protein supplements you buy you're going to get anywhere between 20 and upwards of 50 grams of protein in each scoop. Of course any brand of protein that has a lot of protein in it is going to be very expensive and so for the sake of argument we're going to say that these protein supplements that I've chosen each scoop has around 25 grams, so lets say there's 50 grams of protein in those supplements there.

Next, we've got about 2 cups of non-fat milk. I recommend using non-fat milk for obvious reasons. In the 2 cups you have about maybe 17 grams of protein. Now of course if you don't drink milk you can substitute this for water but the amount of protein in your bodybuilding shake is going to go down. You could use soy milk which also has protein in as I'm sure the vegetarians amongst you will know. You could even use fruit juice and that makes for some interesting flavors.

Moving along we've got some low fat yogurt. You can use plain - here I've got fruit - and there's about a cup there and that's going to give me just over 14 grams of protein.

Next we've got some oatmeal. Now this oatmeal has been cooked already - cooked and cooled down. There's about a cup there and it was cooked in water. Oatmeal is a great thing to have in your shakes because not only does it have protein in - there's about 6 grams of protein there in that cup - but it also gives you energy so it's great to start the day and it'll fill you up as well.

Next, there's about a tablespoon of peanut butter. Of course you'll want to be using natural peanut butter if possible because there's less 'bad fats' in there. In a tablespoon of natural peanut butter you've got about 4 grams of protein.

Next, that's an egg there obviously. It's a whole egg, it's raw. I've used a whole egg because... a lot of people they just like to use the egg whites because they want to avoid the cholesterol in an egg. Personally, I think a yolk a day is fine - your body needs the cholesterol anyway in some moderation and in a normal egg, the yolk is about 3 grams of protein and the white is another 3 grams of protein. So if you throw away a yolk, you're throwing away 3 grams of protein. So there in that whole egg we've got about 6 grams of protein.
