about the site
Welcome - A Bit About the SiteIf you are anything like me then you quickly get bored with eating the same old thing week in week out. It’s hard finding different ways to consume so much chicken without turning it into a chore. It wasn’t until I began focusing on my diet that I realized I needed to build up on my cooking skills as grilling chicken the same way was starting to drive me nuts. Of course there are literally thousands of books out there to teach you how you can cook chicken and everything else. Just like chicken and other lean meats are an important part of my diet for building muscle, so are my protein supplements, namely the protein powders that mix with water or milk into a delightfully tasty, dreamy, delectable, and refreshing shake. Unfortunately, I didn’t find that the protein powders I have tried quite that ‘delightfully tasty, dreamy, delectable, and refreshing’. Of course it is easy to buy protein powders in chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and other flavours, but when you are drinking them one, two, or three times a day, a handful of flavours just really doesn’t cut it. Like many other people taking them, I looked for ways to improve on these ‘wonderful’ shakes. I started adding a banana and some peanut butter, and some honey. Success! What a difference a small extra effort had made and now my shake was so much better tasting and it’s muscle building effect was also improved. Of course I soon got bored with this basic recipe and was searching to increase the number of ways I could make my protein shakes more exciting. I started to ask friends at the gym for their ideas. I read magazines, and found the greatest inspiration from the internet. I tried them and modified many of them to my own tastes. Of course I passed all my new discoveries onto my friends which turned our workout chats into new ideas for ingredients instead of the usual discussions on form. We probably sound more like a couple of chefs when we debate the use of oats rather then remembering to keep your elbows in while working your triceps with the close-grip bench press. In our recipe discussions we had mentioned that we couldn’t find a decent list of bodybuilding recipes all in one place carefully organized. Because of this, I decided I’d start to compile all our recipes, adding to them over time as I read magazines, books, websites, discussion forums, etc. So I am posting them here on this site to share the knowledge. The aim of this site is not to provide you with a catalog of recipes that you must follow to the letter to get great tasting shakes, but simply a guide and hopefully inspiration. If you do create your own recipes (and they taste rather good) which you wouldn’t mind me including on this site, please send them to me. I’ll add them along with your name and thank you message under your recipe title. Of course I’ll also send you a quick thank you email when I post it. CHEERS, AZ |
